Frontiers of CO2 Capture and Utilization (CCU) towards Carbon Neutrality

Abstract CO 2 capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology is a rare option for the large-scale use of fossil fuels in low-carbon way, which will definitely play part journey towards carbon neutrality. Within CCUS nexus, CCU especially interesting because these processes establish new “atmosphere-to-atmosphere” cycle thus indirectly offer huge potential reduction. This study focuses on positioning neutrality scenario aims to identify cutting-edge/disruptive technologies that may find important application opportunities during decarbonization energy industrial system. To this end, direct air capture (DAC), flexible metal-framework materials (MOFs) integrated conversion (ICCC), electrocatalytic reduction (ECR) were selected, their general introduction, importance neutrality, most up-to-date research progress are summarized.

Herein we report a dinickel azacryptand complex that enables fast, selective, and tight CO2 binding from air. Exploiting the affinity of the cavitand towards azides, CO2 release was observed.
